How It's Like With Kids With Omicron

Posted by San Luis Obispo Mom on Thursday, February 3, 2022 Under: Coronavirus
It's been a tough last 5 days in this household.

Both of my kids got Covid-19. First it was just one kid who tested positive, then the other one tested positive a couple of days later. We used the rapid tests at home so that was how we knew it was Covid-19 and this mama is so tired.

I was hoping that only one kid would get it and then, my other child would not have symptoms. It was not the case. My first kid had the fever, congestion and his body was tired. Then, a couple of days later, the other child started having a high fever but no congestion. However, my second child would get dizzy when he walked to the bathroom or anywhere. They were both bedridden for about 2 days with an interval of a day between the symptoms showing for one and the other.

They didn't throw up at all so it's definitely less messy than a stomach flu. However, to follow guidelines responsibly, they have been staying home.

The school's policy is that they can return to school after 10 days without taking another test if they are not showing anymore symptoms. If they want to come to school sooner than that, then they can get a Covid test on Day 5. If it's positive, then they have to continue to stay home but if it's negative, they can return to school on Day 6.

To make sure they are not behind, the kids have been working on take home packets for school. Between taking care of the kids, encouraging them as they are working on school work from home, Zoom meetings for work and lack of sufficient sleep, I'm going to be very, very grateful when I get a well-earned break!
